This hyper-futuristic set, staged in a tennis-court configuration, was designed to evoke a space station orbiting Pluto but adrift in time. Drawing inspiration from iconic starships in film and the observatory where Pluto was first discovered, the design intertwined past and future to encapsulate a seemingly linear plot that collapses in on itself like a black hole. To heighten the sense of the entropy of sanity, the elongated set emphasized looming vertical space and dramatic built-in lighting, leaving the actors pacing within an increasingly claustrophobic cage.
