This set drew on the image of nature overtaking architecture. The house, perched at the edge of the eponymous pond for decades, carried traces of its long history not only in the set dressing but in the way nature began to reclaim it. A play about life reinvigorated and youth re-explored, the initial sense of decay was transformed into one of blooming regrowth. The elevated platform echoed fishing docks, with a blue carpet pond and Norman’s steady armchair from which he floated through the summer. Motifs of driftwood in the furniture and florals in the wallpaper gradually gave way to living plants creeping in from all directions, embodying the cycle of nature and generations passing through the home.
